Reclaimed Wood

Locally-Sourced &
Salvaged Hardwood

Local cities and townships routinely cut down trees for a variety of reasons: clearing around power lines and roads, disease, storm damage, etc.
Most of that wood is cut up and sold as firewood. A good share of it comes to me instead, from right here in Bueau County.
On the lathe, a limb that was bound for the fire becomes a bowl someone will use for decades.

Every purchase from our shop gives a tree a new lease on life.

At the Shop of Hard Knots, we believe in second chances, for wood and for people. Too often, something that’s been written off still has real value once someone takes the time to look. That idea is at the heart of my work, and it’s why I’m building Kintsy, a project to open doors for artisans with a justice-involved background.
